Livestock shading structures are indeed quite common in livestock farms. Our sunshade rolls come with the option of being provided with edging and a preset locking ring. In breeding farms and feedlots, many animals live on large areas of land. There is a very wide space available for the free movement of dairy cows, beef cattle, horses, and sheep. In such an environment, these livestock require a shading structure to effectively avoid the direct sunlight. It is similar to how they seek refuge under a tree in the natural environment to avoid the scorching heat of the sun. The shading structure can offer them an effective and comfortable shade.
The structure of livestock sunshade is not complicated, it can be very simple but effective. The structure of livestock sunshade is the choice of support structure and sunshade cloth.
The shading structure is typically supported by metal pillars buried in the ground to a certain depth. Then, the arched support is fixed onto the support structure. Generally, the entire supporting structure is made of metal. It is quite simple, strong, and durable. There is no need to worry about the collision or bite of cows and horses.
The spacing between the pillars of the shading structure is usually determined based on the strength of the supporting structure. The thicker the pillars, the greater the span they can support.
The height of the pillars of the sunshade structure is usually more than 3 meters, and higher supports can provide more effective ventilation. However, the higher the support, the stricter the requirements for the support structure, and the more difficult the construction will be.
The shading rate typically varies from 40% to 80%. This is due to the fact that the shading rate determines the effectiveness and ventilation capacity of the livestock shading structure. When the shading rate is higher, the density of the shading cloth increases. However, this leads to a worse ventilation capacity. It is a trade-off between these two factors. If the height of the shading structure is limited, a slightly lower shading rate should be adopted to ensure that the ventilation capacity is not overly affected. If the height and strength of the shading structure are large, a higher shading rate can be selected first to improve the effectiveness of the shading structure. But it is also necessary to consider the ventilation capacity and make appropriate adjustments.
The tensile strength is related to the density of the material and the pattern of the shade cloth. Higher density leads to higher tensile strength. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) material is preferred. In the pattern, the monotype fiber has better tensile strength, and mono+monotype is better. Mono+Tapetype is the next. A greater tensile force can cover a larger span with better strength and toughness.
The service life hinges on the material of the shade cloth and the color masterbatch. New HDPE high-density polyethylene raw materials used for the first time take priority. It can ensure the quality and longevity of the shade cloth. The color masterbatch imported from Germany is preferred as it has better UV resistance. Meanwhile, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient amount of UV stabilizer components to protect the material with more stable performance and a longer service life. A good shade cloth can be used for more than 5 years.
The service life of the shade cloth is designed to prevent the labor and maintenance costs related to the frequent replacement of the shade cloth. Due to the expensive labor costs, one-time investment can be used for a long time, which is a very efficient cost solution for the ranch.
